Mentoring ClassDefining The Process
In February 2018, TNI initiated a five year mentorship programme to identify, train and promote a group of 25 young photographers in Nigeria. The programme focuses on the reflective aspect of photography through consistent engagement with the participants in a series of activities that emphasize on critical thinking, research & critical writing, visual storytelling, development of photography projects, exchange programs, seminar projects and portfolio reviews. The mentoring class uses informal workshop sessions, exhibitions and a publication and collaborations within Nigeria and across Africa in order to provide visibility for all the participants.
In continuation of the mentoring classes, the Nlele Institute held a two day photography training session on the 15th and 16th July, 2019 with the title “Defining The Process”. The session was facilitated by Uche Okpa-Iroha (Director, The Nlele Institute). The session was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Lagos.
