The Nlele will in February 2018 kick off its invitational mentorship program for emerging photographers in Nigeria. The program will focus on the development of visual story telling skills, research and the critical writing ability of the participants. The mentorship programme will identify, train and promote a group of 25 young photographers in Nigeria. The programme focuses on the reflective aspect of photography through consistent engagement with the participants in a series of activities that emphasize on critical thinking, research & critical writing, visual storytelling, development of photography projects, exchange programs, seminar projects and portfolio reviews. The mentoring class will involve informal workshop sessions, exhibitions and a publication and collaborations within Nigeria and across Africa in order to provide visibility for all the participants.  An important aspect of building consistent portfolios over a five year period will also be a key work consideration for the team. The selection process will start on 22nd of January, 2018 and the criteria will be the ability to stay consistent over a long period of time and passion as a driving force.
