The Nlele Institute is seeking to set up a dark room section for the purpose of developing young Nigerian photographers and to give them the requisite experience in the area of film/analogue photography. With the advent and evolution of the digital media/photography (especially in Nigeria), this medium has be sidelined. Analogue/film photography is still relevant in “now” photography!

We believe that the medium is still vital in the training and development of photographers because it allows for in-depth understanding and knowledge of the medium of photography. It is main importance of archivability is one factor we cannot not wish away.

Therefore, this appeal and request goes to all our friends and colleagues all over world to assist us source for used enlargers and other dark room accessories.

Donating one (enlarger) or other accessories to The Nlele Institute will also be greatly appreciated as you’d be contributing to the setting up of a well-equipped dark room which will be very beneficial in the training and development of young photographers who will use this facility.
